You can now download the first four Apprentice stories as a collected volume at Smashwords.  We chose Smashwords because they allow downloads in every major e-book format, and you can re-download in different formats if you need to. This release includes all of the illustrations and supplemental material in the print book. The only significant difference is the lack of attractive text formatting (drop caps and such don’t transfer well to all ebook formats, so they were omitted). Here’s a bit of new art, since we’ve been so bad about posting lately. The first two are some quickie paintings I did at conventions to amuse myself at the table. I don’t know if they’re quite ready for prime time as prints, but I might put together a mini artbook at some point. The last piece is the new Apprentice poster. After I print up some stock, I’ll be updating the store with that and some other new prints. One of the tools we get asked about the most is non-photo blue pencil.

I pencil in non-photo blue for most of our comic book pages, unless I can’t get a hold of it. Changes in the graphic design industry have made it more difficult to acquire, especially as mechanical pencil leads. I’ve recently found a new source and switched back to using it. More on that later.
