Inktober 2015-October 1-2

Posting 2 images today, because I wasn’t able to draw and post yesterday due to some travel issues. October 1: This horse at Old Bedford Village had a policy-no petting, only food. She started going through my jacket pocket when I ran out of treats.             October 2: This was a fragment of jawbone from the Ossuary display at the Mütter Museum.                       #inktober

Apprentice Volume 3 update!

Apprentice Volume 3 update!
Apprentice 3 is still on track to be completed this year. The 10th Anniversary party launch party may end up being a winter thing, due to some unavoidable consequences of surgery. (So pizza rather than barbecue.) All that needs to be completed for the book are the illustrations for issue 12, which are in progress, and the cover painting. Both of these will be completed in the next 2 months. Keep an eye out for work-in-progress updates. After that, the book will be put together and printed, and we will release more info about the party. In October, Alysia… ... See more

Re-creating Miyazaki's watercolours set PART 01

This is pretty cool. I'm trying out a version of this palette in casein for the Apprentice Vol. 3 cover.

This is something I wanted to do for a long time - I used the Holbein watercolour tubes I had, added some colours, mixed some and re-created the set of colou...

Apprentice Volume 3 Cover Painting, Part 1.
Working on the 3rd volume cover. I'm trying to document this painting start to finish. I have a bad habit of forgetting to film entire sections when I do timelapses.
I don't usually work this large-all my work is intended for publication initially, so there are benefits to working small. However, I injured my wrist late last year and it's less painful to move my whole arm while painting.
This is all underpainting. It will be an autumn scene, so much of this drab gray will be covered with bright color later.
Due to my wrist injury, I'm only able to work in short bursts. This is about 4 hours worth of work spread out over several days.
